Bowls
The Northern Club Bowls Sections have 2 excellent crown greens at our picturesque club at Crosby, in the South Sefton area of Merseyside, to the north of Liverpool. The club has hosted major events in the crown green bowling calendar, and this year the Northern has been chosen to stage the 2009 British Crown Green Bowls National Finals.

The Men's Section has 7 teams entered in 5 leagues : Formby & District, Maghull & District, Westhead, Bootle OAP, and the Aughton & District Men's Senior Citizens Bowling (over 60s) leagues.
The Ladies' Section has 3 teams, 2 in the Civil Defence League and 1 in the Westhead League. However, not everyone wishes to play league bowls and friendly matches are arranged throughout the season with other Ladies clubs in the area.

Social bowling mainly takes place on Tuesday evenings (ladies only) and Saturday afternoons (mixed). We are always pleased to welcome new members as 'friends we have not met before' to join us for social or league bowling. Both sections have qualified instructors to teach beginners or help bowlers to improve their game. We have various social occasions when the two sections bowl together in mixed matches on a Saturday or Sunday. These are most enjoyable social days and everyone enjoys the 'bonhomie' and comradeship which is always present.

The Northern Bowls Section holds 'Active Club Award' accreditation, through Sefton Sports Council, as a safe and child friendly crown green bowling club. Young people are welcome to join the club and get free bowling instruction by prior arrangement with a section instructor. Sefton Active Club Award
